Joining Year 7 in September 2024

Dear Year 6 Students,

I congratulate you on gaining a place at Maidstone Grammar School.

We look forward to getting to know you in the months ahead. Changing schools can be a daunting prospect, since there will be new challenges and demands for you to meet; but I hope you will also find life here both stimulating and friendly. We will try to make your transfer as easy as possible.

There are two important dates for you to remember in the next few months:

• Wednesday 24 April: when we have a meeting at 7.00pm in the Big Hall. This is for parents/carers and boys and is to tell you more about coming to MGS. Due to limited space in the hall we would request that boys are accompanied by one parent only and that siblings do not attend.
• Thursday 4 July: when we have our Induction Day and invite all new boys to come for the whole day.

In addition, all boys and their parents/carers will be invited to join us for a House Tea in June where they will have the chance to meet their Head of House/Assistant Head of House and other Year 6 students joining their house. Invitations will confirm date details once house allocations have been made. Please do not purchase any house specific kit until your house is confirmed.

Unfortunately, we have limited car parking space, a small number of spaces will be available on the basketball courts accessed via the back gate. In addition, on these and similar occasions, please park at the Mote Park Leisure Centre, but please be aware that parking is limited to a maximum of 3 hours. The back gate to the School will be open and prefects will guide you.

Further information to welcome you to MGS will follow in due course as part of our transition programme for Year 6 students.
