Physics Curriculum Outline 2025-26

Key Stage 3 (Year 7 & 8)

Over a fortnightly timetable, KS3 students receive:

8 hours of guided learning.
1 hour of homework.

Key Stage 4 (Year 9, 10 & 11)

Qualification: GCSE Physics
Exam board: AQA

Over a fortnightly timetable, GCSE students receive:

13 hrs of guided learning (Y9 & Y11) and 12 hrs of guided learning (Y10)
2 hours of homework.

Key Stage 5 (Year 12 & 13)

Qualification: A Level Physics
Exam board: AQA

Over a fortnightly timetable, A Level students receive:

9 hours of guided learning.
9 hours of homework.

Careers

Physics a great starting point for a career in scientific research, as well as in a range of careers in the business, finance, IT and engineering sectors.

Employers include: aerospace and defence, education, energy and renewable energy, engineering, health and medicine, manufacturing, meteorology and climate change, nanotechnology, oil and gas, science and telecommunications. Physicists also move into careers outside of science including banking and finance, computing, accountancy, law and transport.
